Hot in the City

OK boys and girls. Am still in Hoi An with Vicky and Clare- who are beginning to insist I mention them and have given me permission to post photos of them here- the fools!! It is bloody hot here so what better place to get a winter jacket made? It is a gorgeous jacket but trying it on in this heat hasn't been fun. Things might have got out of hand with this tailoring thing and all the careful thought that I put into arranging the contents of my rucksack have gone out of the window with all the new additions. Ah well.

Hoi An is a very pretty city- the old area anyway, it starts to get a bit crumbly around the edges the moment you walk away from the old part of the city and by the time you get to the beach the wooden shacks have almost totally taken over from the brick buildings. Unfortunately, it is the kind of place that money just drips through your fingers. Today I am going on a day trip to My Son in the hope that I will spend less- I'll let you know how that works out.

Had a pedicure in the marketplace and my eyebrows threaded the other day. Watched Vicky get her legs threaded. Went to the beach under a deluge of hawkers, not as relaxing as we thought it would be.

Will try and get back to you later- blogger has been a bit hit and miss here. Now it is time for brekkie.

Thank you, Tania! I couldn't quite bring myself to ask, but now that you have... What the heck is threading, Hels? Does it hurt? Do they paint your forehead with boiling wax and then rip your face off, or is it even worse than that?

YOU DIDN'T GET YOUR FACE PIERCED DID YOU???

Hi Helen glad to see you are enjoying Vietnam. I loved it when I was there. But alas Im here in Korea and very stressed hence why you havent heard from me in a while. Is threading where the girl runs a thread up and down your legs or wherever you have hair to remove it? Kind of like shaving? When I was in Vietnam the women kept coming up to us and asking us do we want threading but I wasnt sure then what it was and Im not sure now!!!! Have fun anyway. Love M

I was going to get back to you all and give you a detailed description of what threading is but it seems you can't wait!

It is where someone wraps cotton around two fingers and runs it up and down your leg removing all the hairs like tweezers. I just had my eyebrows done and it hurt about as much as you would expect it too. Vicky had her legs done and it took ages. More when I have more time--- and the photos!

That sounds bloody horrific. Basically pulling everyhair out by the root.

Cancel my 3 o'clock bikini wax.

Oh, good luck. We were checking stats yesterday, and I was horrified to realize that our very first posts are dated MAY 19TH. Of THIS year.

Time has stopped. Bright side is that I will feel as though I have lived forever at about this point next year.

Wow, time really has stopped. Helen, where are you? Are you celebrating Canada Day? Or do we have to send a posse to locate Vicky and Clare and find out what they've done with you?

Helen says that she is having problems with blog as it keeps locking her out. I'm sure she is getting withdrawal symptoms about not be able to post just as much as we are about not being able to read it!

Okay, I'll call the dogs off then. Hope things get working again soon; I feel very deprived right now. Giving up coffee was easier than this (I know, bad example for Helen the Coffee-Hater)!

OK, from what I recall... She was away this weekend and was having blogger problems prior to that.

I am sure everything is OK, nobody needs to panic. She'll be back here soon.
